Brittany Elliott was born in Denver, CO in 1973. As a military child, her family moved around often, including stops in California, Tennessee and Arizona. All of this uprooting and constant movement, while challenging, provided her with an abundance of materials for her creative side. Brittany was always crafting something out of packaging materials, plastic pots, drink umbrellas, fabric, and boxes, letting her imagination run wild with whatever she could get her hands on.
In 1991 Brittany moved to San Diego, CA to attend school. Graduating from San Diego State University with a Bachelors Degree in Recreation Systems Management, she set out to explore that avenue. She worked as a travel agent, an activities director for a local hotel and an event coordinator. When these jobs did not satisfy her, she did a lot of soul searching to figure out what it was she wanted to do with her life. She finally realized that she wanted to utilize her creativity in her career.
Brittany went back to school for Interior Design and completed her Associates Degree from Mesa College in 2000. While in school, she stumbled upon furniture design and everything clicked; she was in the right place. Motivated by a connection with her grandfather, a master carpenter himself, along with wood shop classes, she fell in love with woodworking and turned her attention to building a career out of it. After working in the furniture manufacturing industry for several years and developing her talent together with her business and design skills, Brittany decided to strike out on her own. In 2005 she created Bella Furniture Design.
Brittany is inspired by people, places, objects, nature and beauty. Her pieces can be classified as Modern or Contemporary, designing and building one piece at a time.
Brittany’s work has been displayed at Divan+Studio in La Jolla, Mixed Media Gallery in San Diego, model condos in Little Italy and Coronado and has appeared in the San Diego Union Tribune. She is currently diversifying her portfolio, developing a clientele and learning the business trade.
